POSITION TITLE: SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST – FUND EXPENSE
DEPARTMENT: FUND EXPENSE ANALYSIS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
Minimum of 3 – 4 years business experience including financial analytics required
3 years’ experience in mutual fund industry and prior experience working with financial services fund administration functions preferred
Strong Excel skills including V lookups and pivot tables
This position assists with the overall accounting and financial oversight of the mutual funds administered by Federated Investors and coordinates and reviews all expense related accounting and financial information for Federated mutual funds.
Analyze expense projections for Federated mutual funds on a quarterly basis (minimum). Summarize the findings and make appropriate accrual and waiver recommendations to management.
Track specific fund invoices and forecast annual fund estimates for certain fund expense categories to be used in expense projections.
Analyze and project class-level recordkeeping fees for >100 vendors on a monthly basis by fund by class.
Research fund events to ensure inclusion in annual fund expense estimates.
Review invoices to ensure that fund expenses submitted to the funds for payment are appropriate and in accordance with contractual arrangements. Provide fund allocations where necessary.
Prepare hypothetical expense projections for proposed products for senior management and board review.
Review expense-related financial reports for the FRC and Board of Directors’ meetings.
Work with other personnel to develop procedures, controls and business continuity plans for performing Fund Expense Analysis functions.
Assist management and actively participate in interdepartmental team meetings for all fund projects and assist in the direction of the process from an accounting and financial standpoint. Oversee the procedures performed by the Funds’ accounting service providers with regard to the fund projects and ensure the process is efficient and executed as required.
Review summary reports (e.g. monthly management/custodian/administration) prepared by the Funds’ accounting service providers to ensure that procedures contracted for are being performed at contracted service levels.
Prepare monthly UCITS expense materials and provide to management.
Research expense requirements for all new and unique products.
