Fragomen Worldwide is looking for strong UX Designers at all levels to join our Technology & Innovation Lab in Pittsburgh! You might be thinking, “Why would an immigration law firm need UX designers?” The challenges in global immigration are complex and constantly changing. Our new Technology & Innovation Lab in Pittsburgh is committed to improving the global immigration experience through design thinking and digital technology innovations. We’re an agile team that understands the need for UX designers and design thinking to make a product successful.
What you will be doing
As a designer in our innovation lab you will collaborate with other designers, developers, and analysts to create digital products that are used by the largest and most well-known companies in the world. Our products help manage a company’s global workforce and are critical to running everything from immigration logistics to analytics and prediction.
As a designer you will also assist in completely re-imagining Fragomen’s ecosystem of internal digital products from the ground up without the constraints of legacy technology and legacy processes.
You will have the unique opportunity to be involved with any phase of the design process:
User research and discovery
Iterative prototyping and user testing
Detailed visual design
Typical design artifacts that you may produce are: research summaries, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, workflow diagrams, wireframes, mockups, design systems, etc.
What you bring
You may have a formal degree in human-centered design (or a related field) or you may have the equivalent professional work experience. Either way you have a portfolio that demonstrates your design process and design thinking. Your portfolio reveals the design journey not just the end result (sketches, research synthesis, wireframes, etc).
You love to use whiteboards and post-it notes for ideation and problem solving.
You like to ask questions to understand all the nuances and unknowns of a complex system, but you don’t get lost in the weeds and can think in broad strokes.
You know how to synthesize research and can communicate important discoveries in a simply way to others.
You’re a self-starter who is comfortable beginning with ambiguity and unknowns. You can intuit the next steps in the design process to arrive at clarity and definition.
You may have a gut solution, but you excel at listening, synthesizing information, and can adjust quickly.
You champion user testing for validating hypotheses and learning quickly.
You champion empathy with the end-user.
You can articulate the value of human-centered design to others without the use of the following words: "intuitive", "simple", "easy to use", "user friendly", and "delight."
You may or may not have strong visual design skills, but you can tell the difference between “good” and “great” design.
You have expert proficiency in one or more of the following tools: Sketch, InVision, Flinto, AdobeCC
