The Junior Accountant will manage the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements, including maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial entries and reconciliations. The role is a pivotal position on the operations team, as the Junior Accountant will oversee the production of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of an orderly system of accounting records, and a
comprehensive set of controls and budgets.
In conjunction with our client's Accountant, the Junior Accountant will:
Perform critical accounting tasks such as managing bank statements, general ledger entries, and the annual budget
Prepare annual, quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc financial reporting
Assist with Human Resources activities, including new hire documents, compliance policies, and insurance filings
In all of these roles, the Junior Accountant will need to demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information withdiscretion and utilize significant amounts of independent judgment.
Company Accounting and Bookkeeping:
Maintain financial records and portfolio companies by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
Direct the transactional processing of general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; adjusting entries for amortizations prepaids; analyzing and reconciling retainage and accounts payable ledgers; and preparing fixed asset depreciation and accruals.
Reconcile general bank accounts by gathering and balancing information.
Perform analytical reviews of the monthly operating results to ensure the accuracy of reports.
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and establish a system of control over accounting processes.
Prepare financial status information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Issue timely and complete financial reporting in the form of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial and investor reports.
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to client's Partners.
Secures financial information and maintains historical records by completing database backups and filing documentation.
Provide client focused accounting services support to the Center of Excellence business practice.
Support the Investment Committee with the provision of accurate financial information and reporting for quarterly meetings and ad hoc reporting.
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments and contract negotiations.
Other accounting and financial analysis duties as needed.
Oversee tax filing preparations for fiscal year. Provide recommendations on tax efficiencies.
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
Monitor financial activities and details, such as monthly cash flows, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
Process payroll in a timely manner and track employees' billable hours for client invoicing.
Process and file employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating.
Manage employee benefits and insurance programs. Administer workers compensation insurance and state disability insurance.
Ensure all employee records are maintained and updated with new hire information or changes in employment status.
Track business practice budgets.
Strong commitment to the mission and goals of our client’s portfolio companies.
Utilizes analytical skills and demonstrates a broad understanding of the organization.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations.
Experience in services related to payroll, such as writing checks and submitting payroll taxes.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local, state, and federal compliance regulations for tax filing and reporting purposes.
