The Sr. Network Systems Engineer’s role is to perform as a subject matter expert (SME) for Network devices, hardware/virtual servers, corporate SANs, Firewalls, Information Security Solutions, and several corporate applications. As a Sr. Network Systems Engineer, you will ensure the stability and integrity of in-house servers, storage solutions, VOIP solutions, video conferencing solutions, and network environments. You will be participating in the oversight and administration of several network infrastructures, computer systems, and corporate applications. In addition, you will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, corporate servers, and external communication circuits for regional and global offices.
What you will be doing
Supporting highly available network and server environments that run production applications.
Implement and maintain all network, security, and computer system solutions to meet the organization's current and future requirements while using technology best practices.
Collaborating across the SMSI Support organizations to drive positive customer experiences
Developing, implementing and maintaining documentation for network administration tasks, IP Addressing, server deployments, and disaster recovery.
Collaborating with regional and global helpdesk, application, and engineering teams
Establishes networking environment by installing, configuring, testing and documenting the equipment/network systems according to the design and specifications.
Leads the performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability within minimal interruption.
Provides technical support, responds to work orders and tickets from the users, analyzes and solves reported network problems.
Leads in the configuration of firewall security settings to access permissions groups for individuals and sets up provisions for incoming data.
Leads network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software and integration testing, as well as coordinating these activities without the disturbing function of other systems.
Leads in the development and production of complex documentation for installation, network topology, and troubleshooting of communications hardware or software.
Provide 24x7x365 Network Operations support
5 plus years’ experience as a Network and/or Systems Engineer
Proven communication, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Experience with network monitoring processes and tools, including packet sniffing and diagnostic tools
Experienced assessing and effectively managing risks associated with implementing business objectives vs production-related changes
Practical experience with Cisco routers, switches, Firewalls, and videoconferencing systems
Strong writing skills to effectively communicate with customers and vendors
Works with limited guidance; takes initiative to continuously learn and improve
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced technology-centric environment
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent education and 3 years relevant experience, preferred. Minimum of 7 years work experience as an alternative.
