FedEx sorts millions of packages every day in our FedEx Ground network. In this position you will join a team of dedicated software developers who are changing how we sort packages. You will be challenged to solve large scale problems and apply complex technical concepts as you work with the package sortation technology that is used in FedEx sort facilities throughout North America. Our solutions interface with mobile devices as well as automated package sorters. We will solve problems for use in a centralized compute model as well as edge compute located at the facilities. The code that you write will drive the efficiency and integrity of the FedEx Ground network for many years to come.
Under limited supervision, designs, codes, tests and deploys software in all layers of the development life cycle. Provides the necessary documentation. Works with databases, APIs, servers, networks and various programming languages.
Job Specific Information:
Proficient in Java
Experience with Spring Framework
Experience designing and writing software used on a large scale
Working knowledge of SQL
Experience or knowledge of testing practices including Test Driven Development and Mockito framework
Comfortable in a pair programming environment
Interest in public cloud and edge compute technologies
Ability to independently learn new technologies
Strong desire for technical self-improvement
Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus
Writing Jenkins pipelines
Using Redis within an application
Ability to write Android code using common frameworks and models (Retrofit, Dagger, MVVM)
Experience with Angular framework
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Requires three (3) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
