The Director of Engineering manages and directs corporate engineering for the company. The priorities for this position include strategic planning, product design, quality assurance and problem resolution. The Director of Engineering must execute product design to meet company objectives, partner with management and develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Responsible for all aspects of the company’s engineering product development activities and will focus on the structuring and operation of the product development engineering function as a cohesive unit; the conceptualization and day-to-day management of simultaneous projects; delivering product designs to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints, and the fostering of innovative solutions to customer needs.
Empowers engineers to innovate while providing technical expertise/targeted questions to make a decision that is best for the business. Ensures engineers understand business direction and how individual work facilitates end goals.
Work with other team members to assess and determine major business and technical strategies, opportunities and priorities which align with the company’s overall mission and vision.
Fosters an optimistic, energetic, “can-do” spirit that will inspire engineering leaders and individual contributors alike to focus on solutions – not roadblocks.
Collaborate with team’s company-wide to implement sound processes and methodologies. Set a visible standard for outstanding performance and clear, open communication. Lead by example, not dictum.

5+ years technical leadership experience
7-9 years of software engineering experience
2-3 years of experience with Amazon Webservices, Azure or Similar cloud-based services
2-3 years of experience with JIRA, Basecamp or similar project management applications
2-3 years of experience with various forms of version control, including git
Basic understanding of modern database technologies (eg: Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Dynamodb)
Basic understanding of modern Web Frameworks (eg: Serverless, Gunicorn, OpenAPI)
Basic understanding of single page application technologies (Node, React, Vue, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field
Strong communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability in digesting complex priorities and distilling into simple roadmaps.
Has built efficiently scalable platforms capable of processing large, complex data sets
3-5 years of experience managing both local and remote, medium sized teams with diverse skill sets
Previous experience in the cybersecurity industry is preferred but not required
Willingness to be flexible and responsive as priorities change.
