The Technical Business Analyst, reporting to the VP Business Analysis & Quality Assurance, will gather and document business and user requirements pertaining to new features for, and enhancements to,our web-based financial platform, and they will translate these business requirements into functional specifications for use by the development team. The Technical Business Analyst will serve as the liaison between the internal and external business community—clients, partners and employees—and the development team.
Documenting business and user requirements and writing functional specifications for use by the development team.
Coordinating, scheduling, preparing agendas for, facilitating and participating in customer enhancement- focused collaboration sessions, Scrum meetings and sprint planning meetings, with internal and external audiences.
Eliciting, analyzing, validating, specifying, verifying and managing the true needs of customers and end users through focus groups.
Performing research and root cause analysis to determine the cause of system issues, and finding an approach to resolve noted issues.
Creating visual modeling or diagramming of current and proposed workflows.
Generating feature enhancements and bug cases in the issue tracking system.
Serving as a resource for development, clarifying requirements throughout the software development life cycle.
Collaborating with the development team, product and training specialists, business development team, product management personnel and upper management on various activities to improve product offerings.
Communicating and training internal resources on new functionality prior to release.
Writing/maintaining test plans, test cases and test scripts, and performing functional, regression and scalability testing.
Identifying, documenting and reporting discovered product anomalies.
Writing product documentation.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance/Technology
Master’s degree in Business/Finance/Technology or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), CCBA or CCBP, preferred
5 years of experience writing functional specifications for development team to use in coding, preferably pertaining to new features and enhancements for a web-based application
Experience with Jira preferred
Ability to write basic SQL queries and experience using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) desired
Perseverance and fortitude to learn and grasp extremely complex and difficult financial concepts and processes
Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working in an Agile development environment using Scrum framework and sprints
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently while preserving accuracy and attention to detail
Energetic self-starter, with the ability to work independently
