We are currently hiring FPGA engineers to work as part of a team with diverse talents and skills. As an entity we seek to push the boundaries of FPGA capability. This candidate will assist in the development of the latest cutting-edge technology and should be comfortable handling multiple projects.
This position is for innovative and visionary FPGA Engineers who are capable of designing and implementing advanced technical solutions within an interdisciplinary team. Nokomis is a dynamic high technology entity that has implemented multiple complex FPGA solutions in our 18 years history of technical excellence in the development of next-generation RF sensor systems for multiple applications. We are seeking talented and ambitious engineers to join our team in a long-term and full-time capacity on-site in the Greater Pittsburgh area. This position requires strong technical skills in FPGA design, development, and integration within complex systems, excellent communication skills, and a desire to make a strong impact on the world. The preferred candidate is expected to have at least 7 years of complex FPGA design and implementation experience who additionally excels at understanding how the FPGA critically functions with a comprehensive board level design. Experienced pure FPGA engineering specialists are also highly desired.
Responsibilities and Duties
The engineer will develop, simulate, implement, debug, and verify Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) programming as part of a larger complex system encompassing multiple electronic components. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithm implementation is a critical function required of this position. High speed circuit design, algorithm implementation, and interfacing with external computational assets are all part of day-to-day job execution. The candidate shall be well versed in FPGAs, microprocessors that are integrated into modern FPGA assets as well as supporting logic, analog to digital convertors (ADC), digital to analog convertors (DAC), digital signal processing (DSP) strategies and implementation approaches, RF signal processing circuits, and analog signal circuits, debugging and schematic capture.
Primary responsibilities include:
FPGA SOC design, development, implementation, and debugging
Implementation of DSP applications in FPGAs to include FFTs, signal conditioning and filtering
Custom implementation of algorithms into FPGAs that are not based on IP cores produced by other entities
System design concept and planning
Electronic circuit design
Troubleshooting and integration of circuits and systems
Working with research and software teams to evolve solutions from concept to reality
MUST BE A US CITIZEN (DUE TO GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS)

Participates in SBIR projects
7+ years experience with FPGA devices and programming VHDL and Verilog
Programming design using Xilinx’s IP Integrator and documentation experience
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experience
Electrical and electronic circuit design
Experience with digital and analog circuits, parts, and components
Expert level troubleshooting skills
Advanced level skills with embedded Linux operating systems and Windows
Proficiency with test equipment; oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analysis
Solid understanding of network technologies; Ethernet, TCP/IP, network stacks and drivers
Experience with interconnection technologies; USB, i2c, SPI
Ability to work alone and with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), handle multiple tasks
Algorithm design and implementation
RF design and troubleshooting experience
Solid programming skills with C/C++, shell scripting, MATLAB, python, TCL, kernel level development
Strong mathematical background in signal processing and transformations
Experience with schematic capture and layout of PCBs
Part and component selection expertise
Good lab skills; soldering, rework, building jigs and adapters
