We are currently working with a manufacturer in Butler County to identify an experienced Mechanical Engineer. This company is a family owned niched manufacturer with over 80 years in business, offering a family oriented relaxed and open environment. They have a track record of success/growth, investing in the business to expand and bring in the latest equipment and technology, and historically have a very low turnover rate. Their size allows them to be nimble and highly responsive to customer needs in comparison to larger competitors in their industry.
This position is open due to an upcoming retirement of a person who has been with them for over 40 years.
In summary, the Mechanical Engineer will design/build products from requirements development, to concept/prototypes phases, through detailed design into production and production support. This is a hands-on role including applying hands-on experience in the development of complex systems.
This opportunity offers a competitive base salary, monthly bonus potential, and a full benefits package. Work schedule is a 4 day a week, 10 hours a day schedule from 7 am – 5 pm, with Fridays off.
• Analysis, design, and development of new and modified components and equipment. • Translating customer requirements for equipment into CAD drawings while collaborating with Sales and Shop to ensure accuracy. • Working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercising judgment in selecting methods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. • Working closely with the sales manager and shop to establish and improve engineering and production manufacturing capability. • Evaluating and providing baseline recommendations for designs based on package costs and performance trade-off. • Contributing to input regarding the cost of design materials/process and finds technical solutions. • Leading specific projects that are broad in scope and are minimally supervised. • Generating own specific goals and prioritize workload so those actions are in alignment with department goals. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and schedules. • Working with technician level personnel and associate engineers. • Interfacing with customers as needed including giving technical presentations and fielding technical calls. • Bill of Materials for sold equipment. • Developing and implementing plan to update critical CAD drawings into 3D. • Continual evaluation of file management policy/procedure to maintain accurate engineering files. • Assisting customers, sales and/or shop in troubleshooting in the event of a problem, may include travel. • Continual evaluation of equipment and processes to ensure both efficiency and quality remain high. • Growing relationships with vendors and looking for opportunities to resell unused items.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering highly preferred. Other majors will be considered based on work experience. • 5 years applicable experience including experience in designing custom machinery and new product development. • Highly skilled in CAD and 3D Modeling. • Strong ERP experience. • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
