SUMMARY We are currently working with a privately held trucking company to identify an experienced Logistics Coordinator for the brokerage side of their business. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Logistics Coordinator will be tasked with growing the brokerage side of this business and effectively utilizing workforce and equipment, while efficiently communicating with drivers and customers to comply with safety and operations policies, state/federal laws, and customer requirements.
POSITION The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with one support individual and responsibilities will span across customer relations, business development, and dispatching. • Receive and request customer demands for loads via email or phone. • Coordinate loads, prioritizing by customer, and ensuring there is a driver available to fulfill the customer’s needs. • Receive and relaying pickup and delivery times, handling any last-minute changes that might arise. • Maintain a certain level of product and/or number of trailers at any given customer facility. • Relay any relevant information promptly to our customer regarding delays in pick up/delivery times. • Assign freight to drivers to maximize all aspects of profitability, customer satisfactions and driver retention. • Provide drivers with their pickup and delivery times. • Provide drivers with the best-route, to ensure they are reaching their destination efficiently. • Ensure that each driver has an adequate understanding of all details of company and customer expectations on each load at the point of dispatch and delivery. • Verify there is adequate time left to make pickups and deliveries. • Dispatch for the next day by 3PM, providing drivers with their bills for the next day’s delivery, when applicable. • Enter loads accurately into the dispatch system in a timely manner, keeping the system up to date. • Remain in constant communication with the drivers by phone or text to resolve any issues that occur throughout the day.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered. • 2 years of related experience required. Must have experience in domestic freight brokerage and knowledge of equipment. • Knowledge of DOT laws and regulations. • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
