We are seeking a talented Assistant Controller to join our expanding Finance team.
In this role, you will need to manage monthly closing and reporting and assist the Controller with external audits, budget preparation and assists with the implementation of policies and best practices to ensure that ChemImage's financial reports are both timely and accurate. They are the third level in segregation of duties, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Principal (Essential) Duties:
Provide support to the Controller, CFO and Business Leaders in all aspects of accounting with emphasis on financial statement preparation and analysis
Monitor and review the month-end closing process and closing journal entries ensuring timely, accurate and complete work
Review all balance sheet reconciliations and trial balance detail monthly to ensure that all revenues and expenses are recorded according to GAAP
Prepare monthly financial reports, including budget variance analysis, on time for Controller to review monthly
Review the work of Finance Department staff, coordinate corrections and make process improvement recommendations to the Controller
Coordinate with the Controller to schedule annual external audits, delegate and distribute incoming requests, review work and manage communications
Approve purchase requisitions in accordance with the purchasing policy
Assist the Controller in the preparation of annual budgets
Review monthly project reviews prepared by Staff Accountant & coordinate corrections prior to the Staff sending to Project Managers (PjMs)
Work with the PjMs to understand annual project budgets; monitor budget variances and calculate reforecasted spend
Work with the PjMs to create and monitor monthly resource planning estimates
Complete special projects assigned by and provide support to members of senior management as needed
Continuously work to identify and implement process improvements within the Finance Department
Perform routine reviews of the Finance Department Standard Operating Procedures and make updates as needed
All other duties as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Familiarity with Accounting Software
Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
Must have very good verbal skills
Must be highly skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
Understanding of U.S. GAAP
Must have strong managerial abilities
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
Master’s Degree or CPA is preferred
5-7 years accounting experience is required
Supervisory experience is preferred
