SUMMARY We are currently working with a specialty manufacturer to identify a Supervisor of Plant Accounting. This individual will work with two entities of the business that are part of a publicly traded company. The organization has extremely low turnover and offers a work family-oriented culture. The parent company is very big on promoting from within and opportunities to advance can exist locally as well as within the locations in the US. This is a salaried exempt position offering a competitive base salary and full benefit package.
While candidates within a commutable distance are preferred, this company is willing to consider candidates open to relocating.
Reporting to the Controller, in summary this individual will lead an accounting team comprised of two staff accountants and a head of accounting, across a local manufacturing facility and another assigned site(s) in the US that conducts complex accounting assignments which are compliant with GAAP and company policies / practices. This position requires oversight and supervision but is still a hands-on role in which you will roll up your sleeves and get into the details. The ideal candidate will be the type of individual who finds satisfaction in looking for ways to make things better, enjoys change, and is not satisfied with the status quo.
POSITION Responsibilities will be assigned by site location and include: • Oversight of day-to-day accounting operations over specific areas. • Oversight of General Ledger and review of ledger transactions processed. • Supervision of the timely completion of closing, the performance of monthly physical inventories and inventory valuations using specific costing methodology, and the completion and review of monthly reconciliation of the general ledger. • Review of financial data being prepared and analyzed by staff. • Preparation of accurate / timely financial statements and reports. • Continuous oversight and support of budget and forecast activities. • Coordination of accounting backup to ensure adequate coverage for staff absences. • Review internal controls for effectiveness. • Completion and supervision of special projects. • Oversee staff priorities to effectively meet internal deadlines. • Provide professional development and support to staff. • Act as an accounting information resource to staff and other departments and locations. • Ability to travel up to 10% within the U.S.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required. • CPA designation or Master’s degree preferred. • Minimum 7 years of related experience is required including ability to perform complex accounting analysis. • Manufacturing industry experience and cost accounting background highly preferred. • Prior lead or supervisory experience required. • Strong technical background required including experience using ERP systems and advanced Excel. • Experience with SAP highly preferred. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, credit check, and drug screen.
