SUMMARY We are working with a professional service company to identify a Payroll Specialist. This position offers full time hours of 8:30 am to 5:15 pm with a 45-minute lunch, Monday - Friday. After some training in the office, this person will work from home most days, except for the one day a week give or take that they will go into the office to accommodate the current office rotating schedule.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this Payroll Specialist will work as a team along with two other Payroll Specialists to process payroll across multi-states. With a total of 1.2K employees, this person will help process payroll for approximately 400 – 500 employees across 3 states.
POSITION The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely processing of assigned company codes in a semi-monthly and/or biweekly multi-state payroll. Some specific duties will include:
• Ensuring accuracy of payroll data. • Processing semi-monthly and/or bi-weekly payrolls; updating/maintaining accurate payroll records including salary changes, wage garnishments, benefit deductions, payroll taxing, vacation/PTO accruals. • Collecting non-exempt timecards weekly and follow up on timecard discrepancies. • Working closely with Payroll Manager and HR Specialist to resolve payroll and time and attendance issues. • Supporting payroll and HR team in producing and creating reports from ADP Workforce Now as required. • Providing back-up for other payroll specialists as needed.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • 1+ years of payroll processing experience required. • Experience with MS Word/Excel, and payroll processing software is required (ADP experience is preferred). • Strong customer service skills. • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. • Associates degree preferred. • Understanding of employee benefits and deductions preferred. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
