Routecast is a new platform that transforms traffic control by allowing road users to send their routes directly to intersections. Rapid Flow is building the Routecast platform so it is accessible to all. Mobile apps are a key access point. Ultimately, Routecast will be integrated with existing navigation apps, and in the meantime, we will build an app that can show off what Routecast can do.
We are seeking a candidate with Android app development experience who can build a functional alpha version app from scratch quickly, based on a current demo version. This prototype app will be used for Routecasts tests of 25-100 users, and will pave the way for the next version of the app, to be used by 100-1000 users in multiple large-scale pilot projects involving Routecast.
An ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in building Android apps, and also know how to integrate gps location, manage external API calls, and use intents to launch navigation apps. Experience with navigation and geolocation data is a plus. As a small company, we need someone who is willing to wear multiple hats, chase down data sources, and be responsible for the project in its early stages.
Responsibilities: - Develop an early-version Routecast app that meets functional requirements. - Spearhead the process of choosing data services or software dependencies to meet project requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: - 3 years Android app development. - Experience with external API call management, permissions, intents, and gps.
Preferred Qualifications - 5 years Android app development. - Experience with navigation and geolocation apps and data services.
