The primary purpose of this position is to develop a range of strategic and creative marketing content and public relations activities for a variety of clients.
The Public Relations Strategist position has been identified as developmental roles designed to create internal resources for current and future promotional needs the Company may have in the Strategic Communications department. Among the key responsibilities for this position is to participate in training experiences, learn new skills, and demonstrate increasing proficiency and expertise with the Core Functions described below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilize client and industry expertise to strategize and execute strategic marketing communications tactics for clients, to include: Developing strategic briefs, establishing marketing communications goals; creating and managing client campaigns encompassing multiple tactics, including writing, media relations, digital and social media support, special events and advertising.
Manage client media relations, including: Developing media pitches and identifying proper local, regional or national media outlets; developing and nurturing media relationships;creating and updating editorial calendars, including those for trade publications, for upcoming opportunities;writing, editing and distributing all press releases, media advisories, and media kits;tracking and reporting of media coverage; maintaining and updating media lists; developing meeting agendas and minutes.
Traffic all content-related projects, including product literature, website design and copy, public/media relations materials, print, digital and social media editorial and advertising, and other marketing communications materials.
Plan, execute and manage client events, including vendor coordination, speaker identification and coordination; theming; collateral coordination; script writing; media relations; on-site technical and stage management.
Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
Stay abreast of client-related media and trades, as well as general marketing trends and best practices.
Perform other duties as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field; and/or equivalent work experience.
Three (3) or more years of marketing communications experience with proven skills in public relations, media relations, copywriting, editing and proofing, and client relations; preferably in a public relations or advertising agency environment.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and social media platforms.
This is a full-time position; typical core hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.; additional hours/days may occasionally be required. Flexible start and end time options are available. Occasional weekend/overnight and regional travel is required.
