The Enterprise Application team at Duquesne Light Co. integrates best-of-breed software solutions and builds custom solutions for both internal and external customers. Our solutions range from web applications, cloud automation, mobile applications to back end processes. As part of our technology transformation, we are adopting Agile methods to increase the velocity of our software and solution releases working with our Product Owners and Business Partners.
The role of Scrum Master will be a key member of the MFP Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will be an experienced practitioner and coach that is able to apply best practices to empower and mobilize the team to deliver high-value technology solutions within our ‘ business as usual’ release cycles, as well as contribute to projects where an Agile approach is more effective.
Scrum Master Job Responsibilities:
Champion the Agile adoption process. Work towards advancing Duquesne Light’s maturity with the Agile framework in collaboration with others across IT.
Guides and coaches the MFP Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
Collaborates with Product Owners to clearly translate requirements into backlog items, refine and prioritize and groom product backlogs.
Collaborates with Release Managers to delivery high quality work in short-duration sprints.
Works with Scrum Team to achieve high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
Collaborates with and resolves team constraints with any other Scrum Masters and Project Managers to increase the efficiency and value to the business.
Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
Facilitates and supports all Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
Acts as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.
Provide additional business analysis, administrative and planning support duties as required
Work closely with development on implementation issues
Reviews QA test plans to align with acceptance criteria
Reviews relevant documentation for technical accuracy
Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
Reporting and progress management. Monitor and identify impediments to release objectives and suggest corrective actions.

Scrum Master Qualifications / Skills:
Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices.
Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of relevant professional experience
Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
Advanced knowledge of Agile/SCRUM project framework methodologies. Certifications such as CSM, PSM, SAFe are a significant asset
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Power Point, Teams and Excel
Responsible for participation in Scrum planning, stand ups, retrospectives/reviews, backlog estimating, defect tracking and planning. Participating on project teams, systems analysis, configuration, integration, and enhancement activities, as well as related maintenance and support.
