Cernostics, Inc is seeking an Associate Scientist at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the Associate Scientist role is to assist with laboratory duties related to tissue-based cancer diagnostic testing. The successful candidate will perform preparation of reagents, multiplexed immunofluorescence slide labeling, digital slide imaging and image analysis, cell culture, and data management according to established protocols, plus other laboratory duties as assigned. The focus of this job is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. In addition to clinical testing duties, the Associate Scientist will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of Scientists and Engineers to perform laboratory and informatics tasks related to research studies, including evidence development studies on existing assays, assay and process improvement, as well as development of new clinical assays. Position Responsibilities: • Conduct tests on patient samples using Cernostics proprietary tools and established protocols, including preparation of laboratory reagents, immunofluorescence labeling of tissue slides, digital slide imaging and image analysis. • Cell culture • Management of digital imaging and analysis data and patient metadata • Other laboratory duties as assigned, including environmental monitoring, equipment maintenance, etc.
The candidate of choice will have: • B.S. or Associates Degree in the Life Sciences • Outstanding written and oral communication and organizational skills • Meticulous attention to detail • Strong ability to work in a technical, team-oriented, standard operating procedure-driven environment
Preferred Skills: • Specific experience with immunolabeling, brightfield and/or fluorescence microscopy, and cell culture • 2+ years experience in clinical laboratory, Biopharma, or academic research laboratory
