POSITION TITLE: SENIOR COMPLIANCE EXAMINER – INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent comparable business experience, including experience in financial services organizations in compliance, fund accounting, legal, audit or similar environment required; degree in accounting, finance or business preferred
Advanced degree (e.g. MBA or JD) may be accepted in lieu of experience
Minimum 3 years of business experience; plus 1 year of mutual fund or investment adviser compliance
FINRA S7TO, S24, or S 66 required
Working knowledge of securities and securities markets, and familiarity with Investment Company Act of 1940 and other SEC regulations
Experience working in mutual fund process or finance industry
This position performs independent monitoring and testing of various Federated Hermes business units engaged in management of Federated Hermes’ products, focusing on compliance with Federated Hermes’ policies and procedures and federal and international securities regulations; analyzes weaknesses in processes and works with business unit to resolve compliance issues; and assists with the implementation of Federated Hermes’ Compliance Program.
Perform periodic compliance monitoring and testing of the policies and procedures governing investment advisory functions. Work with business units to verify, report and correct findings. Prepare reports for Senior Management and Chief Compliance Officer on findings, recommendations or resolution for inclusion in applicable Board Reports and client reporting.
Portfolio Management and Administration: Analyze various policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with application regulations including records of soft dollar transactions, allocation of trades to selling brokers, borrowing policies and procedures and asset segregation policy
Automate the analysis of portfolio investments for adherence with the stated investment objectives and policies of a fund and to regulatory standards (e.g., diversification, cash balances, valuation policies and procedures).
Analyze and interpret prospectus and SAI language, 1940 Act rules, client limitation, UCITs rules, and other country regulations. Define compliance rules for implementation within the trade order management and other systems.
Work with BISD and Investment Management in interpreting and implementing automated compliance rules on portfolio management systems including Fedports, Charles River, Bloomberg, or future systems
Monitor foreign accounts and non-U.S. registered funds for compliance with investment restrictions and UCITs rules.
Develop and implement compliance monitoring programs.
Develop appropriate reports for senior management and prepare quarterly report to applicable boards on compliance testing and results.
Proactively research federal, state, and international laws and regulations to determine the impact on various business units.
Assist in monitoring compliance with Federated Hermes’ Code of Ethics for Access Persons.
Assist in regulatory inspections and perform operational reviews and special compliance reviews of designated business functions, including those conducted by Internal Audit.
Assist legal and audit staffs in special projects as assigned.
Maintain professional competence through a review of current regulatory and mutual fund industry literature and by attending relevant seminars, conferences, and training sessions.
Responsible for training staff, reviewing work of staff, and workload distribution and scheduling.
