The position serves as a strategic consultant to management on human resource related issues, while assessing, anticipating and resolving HR related needs. The position formulates partnerships across the business to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
Maintain knowledge of labor/union issues and best practices in order to promote positive labor relations.
Provide employee and labor relations support, counseling employees and managers on ways to improve performance and collaboration.
Conduct investigations in response to employee complaints.
Participate in the execution of Labor Relations strategies and the resolution of Labor Relations issues.
Partner with the business leaders to align staff to business objectives; structure and/or support the development of programs and/or processes to meet those needs.
Partner with leadership to develop succession plans.
Direct interaction and communication with managers and employees regarding policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively with subject matter experts in Labor Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting and other disciplines to fulfill the company’s mission to create a workplace where talented people want to come, stay and thrive, by developing solutions, programs and policies.
Assist in the integration of diversity and inclusion strategies by working with the Talent Acquisition team, management and leadership to create and empower a diverse culture. Promote diversity and inclusion awareness in hiring practices, performance management, and training.
Track and analyze turnover data and address retention trends and engagement opportunities. Deliver solutions to retention and manage engagement opportunities.
Maintain an excellent working knowledge of HRIS (Workday experience preferred) and ability to maintain reports as requested.
Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or related field.
HR certifications preferred (PHR, SHRM)
Minimum 5+ years of resources experience in mid or unionized company.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Broad knowledge of employment law, compensation and organizational development.
In-depth knowledge of union requirements related to human resources and employee management, including managing and negotiating contracts and related federal and state employment laws.
Comprehensive of labor protocols, employment relations, union grievance and interpretation of contracts.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present training programs and lead presentations are needed.
Must have ability to work in a highly confidential area with changing priorities requiring organization and flexibility.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and application of federal, state and local employment laws.
Experience coaching managers in addressing ER/LR issues.
Experience on a team in merger or acquisitions desired.
Strong strategic consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and partnership focus. Proven ability to build relationships, trust, and rapport, as well as impact, influence and collaborate at all levels of management.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as within a team with a high level of collaboration, professionalism, personal integrity, and dependability.
Ability to determine effective solutions with confidential, sensitive and complex variables
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Operate standard office equipment.
Travel Requirements up to 30 % per month. Expectation is to visit business units at least once quarterly.
