Who We Seek
The TiER1 Software Development group is seeking to add people to its team who have intermediate to advanced professional experience with PHP (Laravel is a big plus!) and/or public cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure), and who would like to add to their own skill set as a member of a full stack development team. Our primary need is for significant PHP experience, and cloud experience is a plus.

We build custom solutions for clients using a suite of tools, languages, and frameworks to comply with each client’s software engineering and architecture requirements. If you want to work with a close-knit team that has each other’s backs, you enjoy working on a variety of projects that help people do their best work, and you bring a handful of the skills below to the table, we’d like to cross train you as part of your journey with us.

At least 3 years of software development experience is needed to be successful in this role.
 

What You’ll Do
TiER1 Software Developers build custom web and mobile apps, games and simulations, data integrations, data migrations, and workflows. In addition to client work where you’ll interact with our business partners, you’ll also support TiER1 products and internal initiatives.

As a consultant at TiER1, you'll find yourself working on teams that solve problems and create solutions across industries for some of the world’s largest brands. This role provides diversity in the experience gained as recent solutions have ranged from preboarding websites for retail employees, mobile training platforms and augmented reality scenarios for life sciences, mentoring platforms for tech and military organizations, an auto auction report with a 360-degree viewer to custom workflows and integrations to automate business solutions across industries. Depending on the solution, we either partner with a business unit or corporate IT with our tech team partnering with the client to determine whether to host internally or deploy into the client’s data center.

Our client requirements are diverse. Every corporate environment has its own software engineering and architecture requirements. You’ll write in a number of languages and leverage a host of tools in the solutions we build.

What Else You Can Contribute
We’re looking for someone who has experience in some of the following and a desire to learn more:

• Front End Development
  • We prefer Vue.js, React, and React Native.
  • We also have some clients that require Angular.
  • Games and simulations are typically built in Unity using C#.
    
    
• Back End Development
  • Our tools include PHP/Laravel, .NET, and Node.js.
  • Databases we leverage include MySQL, SQL Server, and Postgres.
  • Some of our products are written in Java, but those require limited development and support.
    
    
• Operating Systems
  • Primarily platforms are Linux/Apache (we use Ubuntu when we control the end-to-end environment), or Windows/IIS.
  • It’s a plus if you have Linux admin skills.
    
    
• Integration
  • Workato IPaaS platform is our integration and workflow tool.
  • For clients who have chosen not to implement Workato we write custom integrations and data migrations.
    
    
• DevOps (This is an area we’re looking to improve. If you come from a mature DevOps environment, we could use your help developing our own practices and infrastructure. For many of our clients we plug into their DevOps pipeline and would prefer to do so when possible.)
  • We host some, but not all, client and TiER1 solutions primarily in AWS as well as Azure.
  • We build and deploy with Jenkins and Octopus.
  • We leverage Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket, and git to support our development workflow. Some legacy apps have repos in SVN.
  • We use AWS CodeArtifact for artifact repo.

Where You’ll Work
This position is a flexible combination of virtual and in-person (at least 50% in office or with clients) in one of the following cities:

• Atlanta, GA
• Cincinnati, OH / Covington, KY
• Indianapolis, IN
• Pittsburgh, PA
