Job Summary
The LEAD (Learn, Educate, Activate, Develop) AmeriCorps Program Manager will be responsible for the oversight and management of BGCWPA’s AmeriCorps LEAD Program. The AmeriCorps Program Manager will oversee the launch of the program of 28 AmeriCorps members in BGCWPA’s Clubhouses and programs. AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects over 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, health, and homeland security. AmeriCorps’ members serve with more than 2,000 non-profits, public agencies, and community organizations. This position is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing, detail-oriented individual with outstanding project management skills and a passion for working with youth to ensure their Great Futures. This person must also thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
In program development and administration, the Program Manager will:
- Become the primary person with familiarity with AmeriCorps rules and regulations, and ensure that the program is in full compliance with AmeriCorps regulations by building systems and through regular monitoring.
- Lead recruitment and selection efforts, ensuring that all member slots are filled from a diverse pool of candidates
- Oversee administrative tasks such as maintaining member files, assisting with criminal history checks, approving member timesheets and reimbursements, and coordinating logistics for trainings and events to include official records and documents, and help ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Supervise and provide support to all AmeriCorps members, including team meetings, training, tracking of member hours, and performance reviews
- Develop and implement member orientation and provide ongoing support to members
- Develop and implement orientation and provide ongoing training and support to site supervisors
- Manage accurate and timely data collection across all AmeriCorps sites and assure timely report submissions
- Coordinate evaluation and continuous efforts to improve service delivery and member experience
- Lead efforts to build fellowship among AmeriCorps members
- Create and update policies and procedures
- Manage program budget to maximize available resources and ensure alignment with approved spending
- Coordinate any other matters related to the implementation of the LEAD AmeriCorps programs
- Contribute to the organization’s long-range strategy and mission.
- Carry out plans and policies authorized by the Director of Teen & Support Services.
In communications, the Program Manager will:
- Ensure that the leadership team is kept fully informed on program progress and all important factors influencing it.
- Publicize the goals, activities and outcomes of the initiative with the support of the Marketing team.
- Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.
- Represent the program and the organization to agencies, organizations, youth, families and the general public.
In relations with staff, the Program Manager will:
- Lead in the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision and release of all AmeriCorps members.
- Provide support and guidance to Clubhouse level staff in supervising Members.
- Ensure member development and education activities take place and that program goals are achieved.
- Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates diverse and top quality members.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of program management experience or demonstrated equivalent training and experience.
- Experience leading a team of individuals and working with community partners.
- Experience developing and executing systems to hold staff accountable for the successful completion of tasks assigned.
- Experience in grant management.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, productive relationships with diverse individuals and organizations to achieve common goals.
- Exceptional oral and written communications; friendly, helpful, professional
- Strong organizational and administrative skills and attention to detail.
- Skilled multi-tasker comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Flexibility, resourcefulness, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and proven ability to initiate problem solving.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Should exhibit the ability to solve problems through innovation.
- Previous AmeriCorps experience preferred.
- Advanced positive customer service skills needed.
- Must complete a health physical and TB test
- 3 letters of Reference (non-family member)
- Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR letter.
- Mandated Reporter Certification within 45 days of hire
- Be able to attend a minimum of 12 hours of training per year.
- Attend CPR, Pediatric First Aid training within the first 90 days of hire.
- Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills are a must
- Proficient in Google Suite.
- The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs function require the following physical demands: lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, any/or pulling, climbing to include steps, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and signification fine fingered dexterity. Ability to tolerate environmental conditions: air conditioning, heat, dust fumes, noise, close quarters, etc.
- Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.
Certifications and Clearances
CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI clearance, NSOR certificate, PA Disclosure and Mandated Reporter certification required upon hire or newer then 6 months. PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test must be submitted upon hire and before start date.
