Job Summary
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for analyzing company processes and developing enhancement strategies for improvement. This is a practical, hands-on role (rather than theoretical) and requires an impactful, results-orientated continuous improvement leader to champion and drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts throughout the organization. The Continual Improvement Specialist will promote Kurt J. Lesker Company’s culture and SPIRIT values while leading Continual Improvement efforts throughout the organization.
Key Job Elements:
- Analyze existing business processes using various methods such as gap analysis, PDCA, etc. to identify opportunities for improvement throughout the organization.
- Facilitates improvement activities including training, mentoring, kaizen events, six sigma projects, tool deployment, and benchmarking.
- Lead the organization’s 6S initiative. This will include developing and facilitating training workshops, developing weekly milestones, and working with divisional leadership to audit the 6S program.
- Plan, lead, and facilitate continuous improvement workshops and projects throughout the organization to drive business results across the company.
- Work with divisional leaders to address complex issues and utilize data from non-conformances to improve production processes and customer satisfaction.
- Drive CAPA to ensure proper containment occurs and root-cause analysis is performed to resolve problems. Review data for trends, ensure root-cause investigations occur timely and implemented corrective actions are effective.
- Develop a company-wide culture of continual improvement and be seen as the champion for process development and improvement.
- Achieve cost reductions within the specific product areas, with design engineering changes, semi-automation, or automation of equipment.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related field (Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, etc.).
- 3-5 years experience in a Continuous Improvement or similar role.
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude (e.g., intuitive understanding of mechanical / assembly processes).
- Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment utilizing root cause analysis tools and methodologies (Lean Six Sigma, 5S, kaizen, etc.)
- Strong change management, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Competent in data analytics such as Minitab, MS Access, and MS Excel.
Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
- ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
- Project Management Experience.
- Knowledge / Experience in vacuum technology.
