We are currently working with a leader in the precision manufacturing industry to identify an experienced Manufacturing Manager for their electroplating operation. For over 50 years, this company has met the diverse and complex manufacturing needs of their customers by providing high quality precision manufactured solutions for a variety of products and markets.
In summary, reporting to the General Manager, the Manufacturing Manager’s essential areas of oversight include productivity, quality of the products, on time delivery, continuous improvement, and training. Direct reports include two team leads, two project engineers, and an administrative assistant. Indirectly this person will have oversight of about 40 team members currently, and over the next 2 years the team is forecast to grow to approximately 60 – 65 employees to facilitate the current growth of the division.
The electroplating operation has grown to the point of exceeding their current space and will be moving into a larger space that will facilitate the current and continued growth of the division. This individual will be a key part of the team facilitating that move. Additionally, this person will be involved in the ongoing growth of the division by being engaged with customers, learning new technologies and additional plating capabilities, identifying efficiencies by working closely with team members to uncover obstacles preventing them from achieving efficiency goals and problem solving to remove those obstacles.
The ideal incumbent will manage with a service attitude towards shop floor employees, possess a strong process mechanical engineering background, have a history of identifying and making improvements, and understand the importance of customer service which is a critical component of the role.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Lead/manage activities of team members across design, manufacturing, development, assembly, inspection, and packaging of product to ensure monthly production goals are met
• Direct activities of the Plating group to ensure all resources are being utilized efficiently
• Sound financial management of the Plating group including plant supply costs, indirect labor costs, overtime costs, job efficiencies and capital expenditures
• Understand and apply costing and financial analysis of the product and material costs including profit/loss information relative to group performance, and quotations
• Manage material and plant supply/shipment ratios
• Plan/manage the production schedule ensuring all projects meet their completion dates
• Work with quotations and manufacturing personnel to ensure the company is providing accurate quotes for new and existing parts
• Review new products including equipment and chemicals
• Lead and manage all quality efforts to ensure parts are being manufactured according to customer specifications
• work closely with internal teams such as Operations and Quality to ensure proper and prompt customer service related to job issues
• Enforce compliance to all federal, state and OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe work environment
• Ensure proper, effective training is accomplished at all levels in the Plating group. Model leadership to all team members
• Personnel selection and professional development of the group members. Perform regular employee performance evaluations, providing effective, ongoing feedback to aid in team members’ career development
• Motivate and drive the focus of the group on accomplishing its goals
• Conduct regular group meetings to discuss upcoming jobs, continuous improvement, and other pertinent issues
BASE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Strong mechanical process engineering experience
• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing management experience
• Technical knowledge of the electro-plating industry is helpful but not required
• Experience working directly with customers / strong customer service orientation is required
• Ability to lead and manage people, schedules, and multiple projects
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality standards
