We are currently working with a southern Butler County based contract manufacturer to identify a skilled Purchasing Agent with manufacturing experience. For over 55 years, this full-service manufacturer has been producing products and components for multiple industries to include aerospace/defense, medical, transportation, energy, and other markets. This company offers a family friendly and relaxed environment. Their smaller size of approximately 100 employees allows them to offer more flexibility to their employees in comparison to larger organizations.
This position is open due to the current purchasing agent being promoted to a newly created process improvement role within the company. That person will help to train the new individual hired for this role.
Reporting to the purchasing supervisor, as a Purchasing Agent you’ll work as a two-person team focused on the purchasing activities of assigned commodities, parts, services, and suppliers that fall in line with cost goals, quality guidelines, and meet the demands of production scheduling.
This is a salaried direct hire opportunity offering a Monday – Friday daylight schedule and full benefits package.
POSITION
Essential Duties will include:
• Analyze/Coordinate/Maintain purchasing requirements through an ERP system. • Monitor open purchase orders to stay on top of vendor confirmations. • Evaluate price, quality, and delivery of current suppliers. • Meet with and visit suppliers for business negotiations, evaluation, and/or quality concerns. • Manage supplier quality with vendors to include returns, non-conformances, corrective actions, and other issues. • Work with Quality to address supplier quality concerns/issues. • Assist with Requests for Quotes (RFQ). • Work with accounting on invoice issues and price discrepancies. • Procurement with International suppliers. • Develop/Amend work procedures, instructions, or standard operating procedures as needed. • Review/Allocate workload based on requisition count and work-in-progress activity with moderate supervision.
BASE REQUIREMENTS: • Purchasing / Buying experience in a manufacturing environment. • Knowledge of supply chain process (i.e., inventory management, receiving, and logistical procedures). • ERP experience. • A keen sense of urgency coupled with solid organizational skills. • Pre-employment requirements include a national background check and drug screen.
NICE TO HAVES: • Experience in aerospace and or medical device markets. • Experience with KANBAN / JIT material flow systems. • Basic knowledge of blueprint review and material specifications.
