SESCO is searching for a CTO / Head of Engineering (CTO) to join our proprietary energy trading firm. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for driving our technology and software development, leading our software development efforts, and managing the direction of our internal platforms and products.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining an appropriate level of discipline, structure, process, and maturity within the technology organization
- Managing, mentoring, coaching, and growing our technical team with a focus on scale, efficiency, and accountability
- Maintain close involvement with technical decision-making, spending up to 50% of your time programming
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Understanding our organization's operations and effectively communicating technical priorities
- Collaborating with and leading our software development team
We are looking for candidates with a depth of both technical and leadership experience. You should have a high sense of self-accountability, and the ability to set priorities under changing conditions.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in computer science or engineering
- 5 to 10 years of programming experience
- Depth of experience in computer programming and building systems to process, visualize and manage complex data sets.
- Experience developing and managing database systems with disparate, heterogenous, and complex data sources.
- Experience managing a team of software engineers
- Familiarity with financial markets or prior experience in the energy markets (preferred but not required)
- Expertise in Python and it’s ecosystem.
- Demonstrated competency in discrete math and probability in order to build and support trading and analytical software
- Experience working in startup or other highly autonomous environment.
- The ability to relocate and a desire to work in the office 5 days a week in support of the collaborative nature of our work and interactive engagement with the rest of the firm.
