iotaMotion is hiring a Lead Software Engineer for its new site in Pittsburgh, PA. The individual should have strong technical and communication skills, experience with electronics design and testing in a medical device R&D environment, knowledge and skill with embedded software and application software development, and a desire to work with enthusiasm in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment as a member of a small team. The successful candidate will be able to work independently to accomplish tasks and should be motivated and comfortable translating general directions into actionable tasks and deliverables. Candidates must be able to devote 40 hours per week to company deliverables, primarily in-office.
The Lead Software Engineer responsibilities will include developing software and software testings toward commercialization of the next generation of devices for Robotics-assisted Cochlear Implantation. The role will include the following tasks:
Function as a lead technical resource for development and support of medical products
Design, Implement, Document and Test software for robotic surgery applications
Innovate to develop solutions that improve accuracy, usability, and performance of marketed software system.
Working with contract software and hardware engineering to cost-effectively maximize throughput
Design, Perform, and Document experiments for software and unit validation and verification
Study the latest revision of relevant standards (i.e. IEC62304) to ensure existing products meet those standards.
Contribute to design documentation, test protocols, results and reports and complete tracing for all software requirements.
Provide engineering support to customer service, marketing and other departments for instrument or system performance problems.
Assist in analysis of test and field data, identify non-conformance trends, generate concise executive summaries, and recommend design improvements.
Provide continuous technical support to maintain and improve cost, performance and quality.
Mentor and develop junior engineers.
Preferred Experience
Experience in real-time systems development
Practical experience in application development in JavaScript
Proficiency in Electronics (mixed-signal, analog and digital) design, simulation and testing
Additional desirable areas of experience include: Labview, Matlab, Solid Works, CREO, Fusion360, mechanical testing, statistics
Experience in design of implantable devices

The Lead Software Engineer will report to the CTO.
Required Education and Experience:
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering in a regulated industry, especially in embedded systems, with a strong emphasis on medical device development.
Proven experience in a fast paced, high transaction environment providing solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle
Experience with user interface design and implementation
Expert knowledge of embedded systems design and development, including proficiency in system level programming and system configuration in Linux.
Strong understanding of medical device regulations such as FDA and ISO standards.
Familiarity with build and test automation frameworks
Experience with risk management and hazard analysis in regulated devices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Expertise with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools and effective peer review techniques
Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
