Opening with our client for an SQL Database Administrator. This is a hybrid role for someone located in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Must be open to working shifts and on call rotation. The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years of experience with SQL DBA for high availability database environments.

In this role, you'll play a key part in the administration, maintenance, and optimization of complex Microsoft SQL Server environments, including Always On configurations and SQL Azure.

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases in high-availability (HA) environments
• Configure and support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups
• Implement and manage SQL Azure cloud database solutions
• Perform database performance tuning, including query optimization
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
• Create and maintain documentation for database architecture, configurations, and procedures
• Support backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning
• Utilize automation tools to streamline database operations and tasks

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
• 7–10 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA
• Proven expertise in high-availability database environments
• Strong experience with SQL Server Always On, clustering, and failover strategies
• Experience with SQL Azure and hybrid cloud/on-prem environments
• Query tuning and performance troubleshooting experience preferred
• Familiarity with database automation tools and scripting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) preferred
