eNGINE is hiring a Data Architect to help lead the modernization of enterprise data platforms and prepare organizations to fully leverage AI capabilities. This role is 100% remote and will focus heavily on the Microsoft stack, with Databricks expertise required. You’ll play a pivotal role in building out modern data warehouses and lakes, setting the technical vision, and designing scalable, future-ready architectures.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical excellence, architectural vision, and strong client-facing skills. While a consulting background is a plus, it’s not required—what matters most is the ability to design and communicate solutions that deliver business value. Once this role is filled, the team will expand to include additional engineers you will help guide.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and implement enterprise-scale data solutions using Databricks and Azure services (Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Blob Storage, etc.).
Lead the deployment, optimization, and governance of the Databricks Lakehouse platform, including Unity Catalog.
Design scalable data pipelines using Apache Spark and Delta Lake.
Develop and maintain robust data models and ETL/ELT processes to ensure high-quality, trusted data.
Implement data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and present data-driven solutions.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
Stay current with Databricks advancements, Azure innovations, and emerging data architecture trends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years in data engineering or architecture, with proven success designing and deploying large-scale data platforms.
Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks, SQL, & Azure Cloud.
Proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and ideally Scala.
Strong understanding of Delta Lake, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
Experience with Azure-based data services.
Demonstrated experience in data security, governance, and platform performance optimization.
Excellent communication skills and comfort in client-facing, solution-presenting roles.
Ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers.
Comfortable working EST hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Databricks certifications.
Experience integrating machine learning or AI into Databricks environments.
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
