iotaMotion is hiring a Director of Hardware Engineering to join their Pittsburgh, PA based R&D organization.

iotaMotion is seeking a Director of Hardware Engineering who will lead both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering efforts to both maintain high quality of product as well as deliver new products that enhance surgical practice in otology. As a leader in a small, but growing company, this role will serve as a “player/coach”, who can both lead and excel at engineering tasks.
The Director of Hardware Engineering:
Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
Coordinates activities of engineering department to design, manufacture, and test mechanical components, products, and complex systems within the constraints of Medical Device development.
Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests. Directs personnel activities of department, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments.
Works with Project Management to optimize assignment of engineering resources
Stays familiar with a variety of the mechanical / biomedical engineering field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Has a strong grasp of good design principles and a passion for instilling them in the team.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Serves as a great evangelist for iotaMotion’s mission

Serves as a Principal Engineer, a Subject Matter Expert in Medical Device Hardware Design

Qualifications:
Four (4) year degree minimum in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent training/experience.
10 years product development experience with at least 5 years in an R&D management capacity and a minimum of 3 year medical device product development experience.
Expertise in Mechatronics
Experience working with Contract Manufacturers, including injection molding vendors
Expertise in ISO 60601-1 Regulations and Safety Testing
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to balance dedication and delegation
Strategic thinking within a results-oriented mindset
Ability to drive initiatives forward in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Proven track record of developing and launching successful medical products
Preferred Skills:
Master’s degree is highly desirable
Experience with audiology, sound processing, or digital signal processing
