Duties and Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:
Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies for robotic automation systems, with a focus on structural integrity, manufacturability, and overall system performance
Develop custom mechanical components such as end-of-arm tooling, fixtures, and support structures
Create detailed 3D CAD models, layouts, and assembly drawings using SolidWorks or comparable CAD software
Contribute to concept development and assist in quoting robotic systems to meet customer needs
Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams to develop technical proposals and project estimates
Engage with customers to clarify technical requirements, provide guidance, and ensure alignment throughout the project
Work closely with cross-functional teams (Controls, Project Management, Fabrication) to ensure designs meet specifications and are delivered on time
Participate in internal design reviews and help implement improvements to system performance, efficiency, and manufacturability
Maintain project documentation and track design progress to meet deadlines and quality expectations
Support build, testing, and integration phases with hands-on involvement as needed to see projects through to completion
Experience and Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:
3–6 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, preferably in robotics, automation, or machine design
Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, including experience with complex assemblies, detailed drawings, and revision control
Ability to apply core mechanical engineering principles to design robotic cells, end-of-arm tooling, support structures, and integrated motion components
Experience performing tolerance analysis, selecting materials, and designing for manufacturability and reliability in dynamic systems
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on practical, hands-on solutions
Ability to manage design tasks independently while collaborating with controls engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and cross-functional stakeholders
Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Mechanical Engineering Technology (BMET), or Mechatronics Engineering
Demonstrated experience designing robotic systems or cells, including motion components, frame layouts, guarding, and custom fixturing
Familiarity with industrial robots such as Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, or Universal Robots, particularly from a mechanical integration perspective
Experience supporting quoting and proposals by providing design input, rough layouts, and concept visuals
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
